Come and explore the streets of Bankside with our expert guide, who will take you to visit important historic sites in the area. Beginning outside The Rose Playhouse on Park Street, the group will walk to Borough Market, the remains of Winchester Palace, and the environs of Southwark Cathedral, before returning along the riverside and down Bear Gardens.
Learn about Bankside's vibrant locality during the heyday of The Rose Playhouse; in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. The tour is packed full of fascinating stories about the people and activities of Tudor Playing Companies, leisure and 'sporting' pastimes.
Dates: 29th January, 5th/16th/23rd February
Time: 2.30pm (running time approx. 2 hours) (We encourage participants to arrive early to ensure the tour starts on time)
Tickets: £5 adults, free for under 16s (max. 3 free tickets for under 16s per booking, after which we ask for £2 donation per youth). Please note that all under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult. There is a 15p booking fee per ticket purchased.
